12th World Bamboo Congress Taiwan a great success!

With the theme, Next Generation Bamboo; Solution, Innovation and Design, the speakers revealed what is happening with bamboo and how it is indeed making a difference. The event included 5 days of conference presentations, exhibitions, vendors, bamboo-themed cuisine, tours, demonstrations, and of course, music. For the Opening Day, we had nearly 500 people in attendance, from approximately 20 countries. Yunlin County Taiwan Landmark Event

As part of the 12th World Bamboo Congress and Bamboo Expo held in Taiwan, the World Bamboo Organization has selected the post-Congress tour in Yunlin County as a World Bamboo Landmark event. Yunlin County is the heart of agriculture in Taiwan, rich in a vast array of food crops, including bamboo shoots, and rich in forest products. Four different species of bamboo are harvested here for edible shoots. (Phyllostachys makino, Phyllostachys edulis, Bambusa oldhamii, and Dendrocalamus latiflorus).

12th World Bamboo Congress Taiwan

Please join us for the 12th World Bamboo Congress, 18-22 April 2024. This global event will take place at two distinct locations. Venue 1 is the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University in Hsinchu, easily accessible by rail from Taoyuan International Airport and Taipei. Venue 2 is the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute in Caotun, Nantou Count

The Bamboo City Project

This ambitious project is do-able and timely and hopes to become a model for other cities to incorporate bamboo into their Climate Action Plans. The project was launched on 3 December during COP28 in Dubai, led by Architect Neelam Manjunath and attended by an extensive audience, as well as the members of the project’s Advisory Action Committee.

5th World Bamboo Workshop in Punta Brava Guatemala

Between October 26 and 29 of this year, the fifth World Bamboo Workshop was held in Guatemala, promoted by the World Bamboo Organization (WBO), Wubu, CASSA and ICDF Taiwan. Under the motto “Sustainable Futures: Leaving No One Behind,” the event brought together more than 200 participants from around the world.

12th World Bamboo Congress Taiwan DATE CHANGE

Take note: We are full-steam ahead on planning the 12th World Bamboo Congress to be held in Taiwan in 2024. The dates are 18-22 April, 2024. Our Host is the Taiwan Bamboo Society, sponsored by the Taiwan Forestry Bureau and the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute. The venues will be in Hsinchu, Caotun, and Zhushan.

Empowerment Bamboo!

Empowerment Bamboo has launched the preliminary website. Please take a look; this is a great opportunity for bamboo practitioners, to be a part of this new movement. Training Course in Belgium 31 July - 3 August 2023

A training course hosted by DKB's Jan Oprins and WBO Ambassador Jean Luc Kouyoumji's Bambou Sciences et Innovations NPO has been designed to meet the need for knowledge and know- how. European Bamboo Expo a big success!

The European Bamboo Expo, held on June 2nd and 3rd, 2023, in the Dietrich-Keuning-Haus, Leopoldstraße 50-58, Dortmund, was a resounding success. The expo served as an essential meeting point for professionals, stakeholders, and decision-makers in the bamboo industry in Europe, offering a global perspective. The expo was open to the general public, and it aimed to be Europe's leading exhibition for the bamboo trade.

Call for Papers - 12th WBC Taiwan

The 12th World Bamboo Congress is now accepting papers for consideration for a video presentation as part of its vast Program. There will be no oral presentation of selected papers in principle, only videos. However, the best papers might be invited for an oral presentation, and the organizers reserve the right to the final decision.
