The WBO has been a network of bamboo people for nearly 3 decades, when a small group of people met in Japan for an international event and determined the need to connect and organize around the subject of bamboo. We needed to cross the bamboo bridge! The result has been a growing global network of people committed to promoting bamboo.

World Bamboo News October 2020

Despite the global pandemic, bamboo people around the world continue to work hard to elevate bamboo as a vital community resource, a sustainable alternative as fuel, fiber, and building material, and an important natural resource to alleviate climate change challenges. Thousands of people are taking part in virtual webinars, and thousands of people are working via hands-on bamboo projects around the globe.

World Bamboo Ambassador from Haiti Appointed

Jane Wynne of Wynne Farm Ecological Reserve joins the team of WBO Ambassadors. Over decades we have tried to help the people of Haiti with disaster relief housing and encouraging the planting of bamboo. Now, with Jane on our team, we feel we can do this more successfully. She has a long family history of caring for the earth.

WBO Intern Maddie Cassidy-She is our current intern and she is a huge help. This is her last year studying Global Environmental Studies and Philosophy at Clark University (located in Worcester, Massachusetts), and she will be graduating in the Spring 2017. She loves the environment, traveling and writing.
