On behalf of the World Bamboo Organization, the Taiwan Bamboo Society and the 12th WBC International Organizing Committee, we are very sorry to make the difficult decision to postpone the 12th World Bamboo Congress, scheduled for this September in Taiwan.

We are very sad to realize the covid19 pandemic and chaotic global political reaction prevents us from coming together as planned. As you know, our first conversations with the Taiwan Bamboo Society to host the 12WBC began mid-year 2017, and for over three years we have worked hard together with the city of Taoyuan, the Forestry Department, the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute, and all our partners and sponsors to see this event become a reality. We will now need to wait another year. We want to reassure you that we do not intend to cancel the event, but have it happen at a time when more is known about the virus, when it is safe to travel, and the economic situation around the world stabilizes to allow the most people possible to come to Taiwan. Our target reschedule date is 18-22 September 2021.

We are confident that the 12th World Bamboo Congress in Taiwan will happen and it will be an amazing, unique event. Our keynote speakers will be inspirational and travel in Taiwan will be unforgettable! Please help us to continue the planning and the preparations, and look forward to being together. Go Taiwan! Go Bamboo! Bamboo Now!

Thank you.
Sincerely, and regrettably,

Susanne Lucas, CEO WBO / Michel Abadie, President WBO / Taiwan Bamboo Society and all our partners
