Anelizabete A. Teixeira is an architect, urbanist, and professor with a PhD, born in the state of Goiás, located in the center-west of Brazil, a country rich in biodiversity and home to many native species of bamboo. Her passion for bamboo began in 1997 when she started her research, focusing on its use in civil construction and architecture. She currently serves as the President of the Brazilian Bamboo Network (RBB) and is a Guest Researcher at the Center for Research and Application of Bamboo and Natural Fibers (CPAB/UnB). In May 2023, she was invited to join the World Bamboo Organization (WBO) as a World Bamboo Ambassador, representing Brazil.
Anelizabete holds a PhD in Architecture and Urbanism from the University of Brasília (UnB, 2013), specializing in Technology, with her dissertation on Mortared Bamboo Panels for Application in Social Housing. She completed part of her PhD as a Sandwich Doctorate at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU, Trondheim, Norway, 2009/2010). She also holds a Master’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism from UnB (2006), a specialization in Construction Management from the Federal University of Goiás (UFG, 2003), and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Pontifical Catholic University of Goiás (1996).

Through this center, she develops research and technical studies involving students and promotes the culture and importance of bamboo for environmental and construction sustainability. Anelizabete represents UEG and the topic of bamboo at the Sectorial Chamber of Natural Fibers (CSFN) under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply (MAPA) since February 2023. She is also a Visiting Professor at the Graduate Program in Civil Engineering at the Federal University of Catalão (UFCAT).
Anelizabete was the General Coordinator of the III and IV National Bamboo Seminars, held in Goiânia and Pirenópolis, Goiás, in 2015 and 2022, which brought together over 2,000 participants and featured more than 35 lectures by renowned national and international researchers. She has published dozens of technical-scientific articles on bamboo and is the organizer and author of three books on bamboo in Brazil (2006, 2015, and 2022).
