Tropical Bamboo Nursery

Tropical Bamboo® Nursery & Gardens is a 13-acre nursery located in Loxahatchee, Florida, specializing in tropical, clumping bamboo plants. As active members of the American Bamboo Society and the World Bamboo Organization, the nursery has played a significant role in bamboo-related developments worldwide. Certified by the Florida Department of Agriculture, Tropical Bamboo offers nearly 300 bamboo varieties, ranging from container-grown to field specimens, with a focus on non-invasive, clumping species. The nursery takes pride in educating visitors and ensuring the perfect bamboo species for each application, meeting strict USDA quarantine guidelines for plant importation and suitability testing.

Tropical Bamboo Nursery also features a stunning bamboo garden, offering visitors a relaxing experience surrounded by bamboo structures, waterfalls, and serene picnic areas. Highlights include a Guadua bamboo pavilion, a Bali-style structure, and a unique bamboo sculpture named 'Orbweaver' created by Gerard Minakawa. This garden serves as the central point for local and mail-order sales, with surrounding greenhouses and production fields that provide bamboo plants of various sizes for immediate applications.

Founded in 2000 by Robert Saporito, the nursery was born out of his passion for rare plants and bamboo, which he discovered during his travels in remote jungle areas as an aviation worker. As president of the Florida/Caribbean Chapter of the American Bamboo Society, Robert has been instrumental in importing new bamboo species through USDA quarantine stations. Since its inception, Tropical Bamboo Nursery has introduced over 100 new bamboo varieties to the U.S., solidifying its position as the premier supplier of tropical, clumping bamboo in the region.
