People often say to me, "I want to be a World Bamboo Ambassador", and that is truly a wonderful thing! In fact, all of us who recognize the vast merits of bamboo and are doing something to promote it as a sustainable resource, are indeed ambassadors. We are advocates of bamboo, and we each have a story to tell, a reason why, a determination that doesn't quit.

To be a World Bamboo Ambassador, in reality, is a more personal engagement to the World Bamboo Organization. The WBO's corps of ambassadors has grown, and I personally know each one. As a founder of WBO, and its Executive Director, this is very important to me. The Organization needs commitment, dedication, honesty, activism and a bit of altruism in designating its' Ambassadors. It's a relationship.

I'm happy to recognize WBO's two newest Ambassadors: Nguyen Manh Tuan of Hanoi, Vietnam, and Iván Platas of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain.

Both Tuan and Iván attended the World Bamboo Congress in Mexico in 2018, and through casual conversation, subsequent engagement and continued communication, their personalities aligned with what it takes to be a World Bamboo Ambassador.

A big welcome to Tuan and Iván! We thank you for your commitment and we look forward to the energy you will share with WBO and our global bamboo community!
