Design Innovation
Bamboo’s principles of durability, utility, and beauty resonate deeply with Jennifer Snyders, CEO of the House of Bamboo and Australian Bamboo Plantations. Complementing this is Jennifer’s passion for educating others about the transformative possibilities of bamboo, positioning her at the forefront of sustainable agriculture and construction innovation.
Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from UNSW. Her journey with bamboo began uniquely: while she was studying, her father pioneered one of Australia’s first ventures into bamboo by founding the House of Bamboo in 1972.
Assuming the role of CEO in 2012, Jennifer has revolutionized the bamboo industry in Australia. She has designed and manufactured contemporary architectural products tailored specifically for the Australian climate. Her extensive experience includes large-scale projects worldwide, encompassing curved beams, wall cladding, panels, ceiling designs, flooring, and exterior applications.
As President of the Bamboo Society Australia, Jennifer is dedicated to increasing awareness of bamboo’s properties and its potential in land restoration, climate change mitigation, and as a sustainable alternative to timber.
In every aspect of her work, Jennifer exemplifies innovation, sustainability, and leadership. Her life’s work is focused on advancing bamboo as a solution that promotes a true circular economy, driven by her personal commitment to creating a better world for future generations, including her twin daughters. Through her leadership and innovation, Jennifer Snyders is shaping the industry, educating the next generation of architects, builders, and designers, and redefining our relationship with the environment for a greener future.
