Dedicated volunteers steer the World Bamboo Organization. The Ambassadors work independently but are connected as a team, and we collaborate to expand the potential of our actions and our mission.

Community Development
Tang Li-fang hails from central Taiwan, where bamboo has been an integral part of the culture and community. Inspired by her daughter in 1997 to begin storytelling, this passion led her to found the Yunlin Storyteller Association (2005) and Yunlin Storyhouse (2007), a cultural platform for people of all ages to share, create, and be inspired. She is also deeply involved in promoting bamboo as a sustainable resource.
Since 2013, Tang Li-fang has been committed to bamboo advocacy and education, founding the Taiwan Bamboo Society (TBS) and serving as a World Bamboo Ambassador, recognized by the World Bamboo Organization in 2015. She has contributed significantly to the global bamboo movement, co-chairing the 10th World Bamboo Congress in South Korea, securing the opportunity for Taiwan to host the World Bamboo Congress in 2024, and serving on the International Committee for the Congress.
Her professional journey as a storyteller and project planner since 1997 has allowed her to reach audiences around the world, including in the U.S.A, Malaysia, Bhutan, Canada, Mexico, Spain, Italy, and Colombia. She has authored nine picture books and curated numerous exhibitions, all while promoting storytelling as a tool for cultural exchange and education. Fluent in Chinese, English, and Taiwanese, she has given talks at schools, universities, and cultural centers in Taiwan and internationally, including as a guest speaker for the World Bamboo Workshop in Guatemala and the Northern American Women Association in Houston, Texas.
Her involvement with bamboo was greatly influenced by Gunter Pauli and his Blue Economy initiatives, inspiring her to attend the 9th World Bamboo Congress in Belgium and propose the World Bamboo Ambassador program in 2014. Her ongoing work has made her a key figure in the bamboo and storytelling communities worldwide.
Through her numerous international engagements, including speaking at events like the World Congress on Blue Economy in Spain and Colombia, she has promoted bamboo’s potential for sustainable development. Tang Li-fang continues to inspire audiences with her passion for storytelling and bamboo advocacy, believing in the power of stories to connect the past, present, and future.
