Mauricio Mora

Mexico

Agroforestry and Foods

Mauricio Mora hails from Mexico, recognized for its rich bamboo culture and resources, utilized in various industries such as food and beverages. Actively involved with the World Bamboo Organization, he serves as a World Bamboo Ambassador from Mexico. He is a recipient of the prestigious Ned Jaquith Scholarship for 2023-2024.

Mauricio is the Founder and CEO of Cervecería Artesanal Bambusa, co-founder and president of Bambusetum A.C., and co-founder and director of Grupo Bambú para la Vida. As a specialist in developing new products in the food and beverage sectors using bamboo, he has over 12 years of experience and is a pioneer in Latin America. He developed the first prototype of artisanal bamboo beer and introduced commercial cultivation of edible bamboo shoots in Mexico.

He has been instrumental in promoting bamboo through the creation of the Bioeconomy Model "Microindustry-School" for edible bamboo shoots and beverages, organizing Mexico’s first "Bamboo Shoot Days," and launching the "Edible Bamboo Gardens" plantation model. His work includes co-authoring informative articles on bamboo shoots and acting as a consultant in bamboo-based food and beverages.

Mauricio is also a speaker and workshop facilitator at national and international events. His academic achievements include a fellowship from the "Training Course on Bamboo Technologies for Developing Countries," sponsored by the China National Bamboo Research Center (CBRC) in Hangzhou, China.

Through his various initiatives, Mauricio has made significant contributions to innovative and circular solutions in the bamboo industry in Latin America.
