Architecture and Building
Dutch architect Olav Bruin has almost two decades of experience in designing resorts, private residences, (social) housing projects and schools across the globe.
He specializes in biophilic architecture using locally available sustainable materials that fit symbiotically into their natural surroundings as he believes that architecture should serve as a bridge to connect nature, culture and people.
Ever since Olav discovered the possibilities of bamboo as building material in 2006, he has been a passionate bamboo advocate and used this versatile material for projects in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Mauritius, the UAE, the Maldives, Vietnam and India. His bamboo works have been awarded with the Architecture Master Prize, the Unesco Prix Versailles, the International Architecture Award, the Green Good Design Award and Ahead Global Award.
Olav is currently Creative Director at Rotterdam based Atelier Nomadic and partner at its sister company Nomadic Resorts.
