Champions of Change: Empowering Bamboo for a better Future
Dedicated volunteers steer the World Bamboo Organization. The Ambassadors work independently but are connected as a team, and we collaborate to expand the potential of our actions and our mission.
Peter Van Lengen
Mexico
Bio-architecture
After moving to Brazil and settling in the jungle mountains of Rio de Janeiro, Van Lengen lived among bamboos, used its resources every day and brought new species from all over the planet to join his land. After studying under his renowned architect father, he gave his first bamboo workshop in 2004 and built a
fortified goat shelter. Learning from the early Colombian masters and later by theincredible Ernst Grosch, by 2008, Van Lengen had consolidated his understanding of the plant. Over the next 16 years he has given over 200 lectures concerning the environment and bamboo in top universities and ecovillages of the world. As a
prolific architect, every build large or small, will always incorporate bamboo, especially for the roofs and gardens. In 2018, he was made a World Bamboo Ambassador and has been a recipient of the Ned Jaquith Foundation, enabling the production of the Bambu Buddy Show! Currently generating a rising bambuzeros
basecamp on social media.
